Our commitment begins with an opportunity for the patient to meet with their surgeon during the initial consultation — a process that takes place well before the actual day of surgery. We think that meeting your surgeon and having the opportunity to pose questions and discuss various treatment options is not only important, but an imperative step in patient education. Only after the individual understands why their vision is poor and what the various options for improving that vision are, can an informed decision about laser vision correction be made.
At ViewPoint Laser Center we believe that an informed patient is the best patient, which is why we encourage all prospective patients to call for a free, no obligation consultation and see what their laser vision correction options are.
What is the consultation all about?
The goal of the consultation is twofold: to educate the patient about the procedures available at ViewPoint Laser Center (LASIK and PRK), and to confirm whether or not the patient is a good candidate by conducting a full eye examination.
Complete Eye Examination
Your assessment includes a complete eye examination.
The consultation takes about an hour of your time. Included in this eye examination is a mapping of your eyes to show any irregularities in the shape of your cornea. At ViewPoint Laser Center we perform an Advanced CustomVue Waveprint exam on each patient. This allows the surgeon to see any unique imperfections of the eyes that can be addressed during the procedure.
We will be dilating your pupils so bring along a good pair of sunglasses. You will be able to drive but may experience some difficulty reading for a few hours following the exam.
